Coaching Services
Blackhawk Lanes & Bowl MaXXX Pro Shop offers Coaching Services to our bowlers provided by USBC Silver Certified Coach, Loren Wolf.
Private lessons can include an evaluation of your equipment, physical abilities and goals. Your stance, approach and finish position will be analyzed from both the side and back perspectives. Ball speed, rev rate, axis rotation & axis tilt can be used to determine bowler type. This will be useful in equipment selection and drilling pattern selection
About CJ Bonnewell

Blackhawk lanes offers one on one or group coaching of athletes of all ages. USBC Bronze level coach, CJ Bonnewell offers 1/2 hour, 1 hour, or intense 2 hour training sessions. CJ is the head boys bowling coach for Dixon High School, and is coming off a trip to the State Finals for IHSA Bowling. In his first year as head coach, he helped develop and guide the team to three sectional qualifiers and a state finalist.
Beginning with a bowler evaluation and video, CJ will observe and study the bowler to develop a coaching plan that will be specifically designed for the development of the individual athlete. Bowling is comprised of many different elements, but you can generally break them down into either physical or mental. CJ will help you develop your game in both areas.
Coaching will help develop the bowlers fundamentals starting with body position all the way through the release. Advanced coaching will include developing the best arsenal and understanding ball construction, surface changes, and lane play, while also considering lane breakdown and transition.
